Another English Team In & Another German Team Out
Liverpool Beat Bayern Munich 3-1
It was another great night for English sides as Liverpool beat Bayern Munich 3-1. Neither team created very many chances in the first 20 minutes but Bayern dominated the possession. A little after the 20 minute mark, the momentum started to shift to Liverpool and in 26th minute Van Dijk plays an outrageous through ball, across almost the majority of the pitch to Mane, who brings the ball down with a great touch. Then he rounds Neuer and chips the ball into the goal. Around 12 minutes later Liverpool were caught on the break by Gnabry, who crossed the ball in, towards Lewandowski, who wasn't able to get on the end of it. Instead Matip tapped the ball into his own goal. As the second half got underway, the game seemed more open and both teams created several chances. But it wasn't until the 69th minute that Milner swung in a near perfect corner to Van Dijk, who leaped higher than two Bayern players to score Liverpool's second of night. It was a beautiful corner which was somewhat helped by some questionable goalkeeping from Neuer, who in theory should have been able to dive down in time but in wasn't able to in practice. Liverpool sealed the deal in the 84th minute when Salah played a brilliant chipped through-ball to Mane who snuck behind Hummels and headed the ball in. Game over.
